IV. Useful Information

Within Sudan — Travel outside Khartoum is restricted for non-Sudanese and Travel permits have to be obtained in advance through the Ministry of External Relations of any travels.  Plans for field trips have to be made in advance as much as possible.  No travel should occur without the relevant security clearance or without an authorised Travel authorisation.

Satellite and TV — There are a number of options available in this regard.  The different options require different satellite dishes and decoders so you may first want to determine what you want to watch as that will guide you in terms of the dish you need.  One provider offers Showtime and Multichoice and can be contacted on 83471992 and found on Middle Road, Amarat.  Another less expensive option is now also available in Khartoum 2 – Orbit.

DHL – The office has an account with DHL.  Should you require the services of a courier company, you can send your item through the office facilities and then pay the costs.

Photography — Taking photographs at public places including airports is strictly prohibited and needs Photo permission.  Please note that this also applies to any area that you might travel to undertake official work.  If in any doubt please ask!  This matter is taken very seriously and should you contravene this requirement, there can be serious consequences.  Please contact the Communication and Advocacy Section for assistance in obtaining a permit and further information.
